Challenge for 2011

Well, I have some much deserved time off from work!!! I don't have to go back to work til 2011. So, I was catching up on my blogs, and sorting through some of my emails... and came across this blog entry. I follow this blog pretty regularly. She had a challenge going for last year - but, I didn't participate!!! This year her challenge is every other week she will post a word relating to God. Then our challenge is to go to the Bible and find scriptures that are meaningful to us based on the word posted for that week. She will go through the alphabet 26 words - 26 weeks!!! Then, we can make a scrapbook page/journal entry/card - anything we want. I just thought this might be a great thing to do for the new year!!!!

Remodeling Woes!!

I am home today – trapped with my "crazy doxies" and a construction worker.

We are getting our bathroom remodeled – VERY EXPENSIVE – but, worth it. Don't think we could sell the house without getting it done. We don't have plans on reselling in the near future – but, I don't think we are going to retire here!!

So, anyway… I hate being STUCK home. Don't mind being home when it is MY choice – but, I have the most flexible schedule – so that left ME to be home.

Trying to stay focused on the things that need to get done… but, would much rather just lay down and watch a movie!!

Oh well….

zipper flower

Here is my first day at fulfilling my commitment... so here goes:
I was "surfing" around and saw a ZIPPER FLOWER. I like it - but, I thought, "Hey, I can make those just as easy as anyone else!!" So I googled and found lots of these - but, wasn't sure I liked to pointiness of them. So, I kept searching and found this tutorial. I think I REALLY liked it. I know that my mother has LOTS of zippers. So, I think I will have to ask her.
Now the question that I KNOW my daughter would ask me. "So, what are you going to do with them after you make them?"
I just have not created in SO long!!! I really do need to do something!!
Hope I can post a picture soon....

Oh yeah.... I saw this zipper bracelet... way different... but kind of quirky!!

You know what my pet peeve about blogs is?? Not posting regularly!!! I have wanted to get better about my blog.... I am embarrassed to tell people I have a blog because I don't keep up on it. But... I am going to post something everyday on this blog... a picture... a verse..... a card..... a doxie.... something.....
And if I don't make a posting, I will at least update my blog in someway..... then maybe it will be something I can be proud of!!!!

doxie on a stick

It's a sad day in the world of Dachshunds in Popular Culture. Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Al Ross, the founder of Doggie Diner, a chain of 30 restaurants with iconic Dachshund heads in the San Francisco Bay Area. The restaurants started in 1948 and were hugely popular, making Mr. Ross a fortune. Union hassles and the pressure of competing with McDonald's prompted him to sell the Doggie Diner chain in 1979. Several of the Dachshund heads have been restored, even making traveling trips across the country and showing up at Dachshund festivals. The last Doggie Diner head (on a pole) makes its home in the Outer Sunset district of San Francisco. It has been declared a city landmark!

OWH cards

These are some cards I made for Operation Write Home. My goal is to make 25 cards, and then I will mail them. This will be my first donation to this cause. I am very excited.

Military Ministry

My church, La Palma Christian Center, has a Military Ministry. We spend all year making Christmas cards, and write letters to troops. When the troops write back, we put the letters in an album. They recently changed from 8 1/2 x 11 to 12x12. I volunteered to make the album cover. The cover reads: La Palma Christian Center; Letters from the Troops; Military Ministry.

We wanted to separate the letters by years. I was so proud of both of these pages.

Christmas Card in March

I bought a box of Christmas scrapbooking stuff at Tuesday Morning (my new favorite source of supplies!!) I had decided last year that I would make a few Christmas cards every month, and then when December came around, I would be ready with homemade Christmas cards to mail out. Well, I have only made 4 cards... but... I MADE FOUR CARDS. I am so please with myself. This is just one of them. I really like this one.. and think I can duplicate it in some fashion.

Circle Card

This is my last post of the day! I have been wanting to make a circle card for a long time.
I had a good time. It was fun, and different. The only problem was that I had to use an oversized envelope. It was okay, I had bought some, so I just made sure that I made the circle the right size to fit into the envelope. I made this card for my special friend Cheri, for her 27th birthday!!The inside of the card says: Just want to tell you that you're special and to wish you all the joys of a wonderful birthday!

cute, cute, card!!

I'm finding that I LOVE cards with little squares. I am really drawn to them. So, I made several cards, but did them in different colors.... FUN.

card with burlap

I know that it seems I post in "clumps". I have been working on cards, just unable to take good enough pictures to post them. So, today I was off of work and decided to catch up!!
Here is a card that I stamped a heart onto burlap. I thought it turned out very well. I was impressed. I only made one. Which I hardly ever do. I always feel that if I am going to make a card - I am going to make several at the same time.... But, I really liked this one, So, I am going to make some more. But probably not so many buttons this time!!
