Whoooo Loves Hats??

Well, I think the jury is in.... and it's me.....
Once again, one of my daughters asked me to make a hat for a gift.
And.... I had to say:
YES
I had so much fun making these.  They are for a newborn baby girl and her 7 year old sister.
I can't wait to see pictures of them wearing them.
Once again, I used my favorite "hat lady" Repeat Crafter Me.
I am so happy with her patterns and how they turn out!!

Unicorns are Magical!

My daughter called one night, and told me that her co-worker's birthday was coming up - and she loves Unicorns.  Would I please make her a hat!!
Well, needless to say, I had the hat itself done in that very evening!
The horn and the mane were done the next night.

Her birthday was last week ----
And....... SHE LOVED IT!!!

Gifts for Christmas??? In January???

Found this CAL (Crochet-a-long) that spends all year making gifts, so that when Christmas comes around, you are ready with gifts to give.
The first pattern was a hat.
I'm not so sure I would have picked this pattern from a list of patterns -
but, I think that it turned nicely.
The picture of this pattern had ribbon woven in on the bottom.
I wasn't sure what color to use.
What do you think? Dark green? White?
This was a very easy pattern

Kind of looks like a Christmas Tree, doesn't it?

Then, I showed it to Lynn (my youngest daughter) and she took it.
Okay, I told her she could have it!
 I looks good on her!
(But, I said "Merry Christmas!!)

Just In Time For Super Bowl!

My nephew was expecting his first baby this month!
My nephew is on the football team at college.
I was so excited to make a little football hat.
I saw the pattern, and whipped it up over a weekend! (I was quite proud of myself)
He had the baby last week
Welcome to little Carter Max
What a sweetie!!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let Down Your Long Hair!

It was my niece's birthday last week.
I decided to make her a Rapunzel hat
(I seem to have given myself the task of making a hat for all the children's birthdays)
There are so many ideas for Rapunzel hats on the internet.
I just looked, and looked, and thought, and planned and came up my own version.
I used one of my "tried and true" hat patterns.
But, just like always.... it didn't fit just right.
I know that I crochet at a different tension that most patterns.
(I have trouble with gauge)
So, this time, I put a couple of different patterns together, and came up with my own.
I am going to write it up, and put it right here on my blog.
So that I will have it and it will be MINE!
She looks like a very happy little 3 year old.
 Happy Birthday Rosie!
I had so much fun finding and making all the flowers.
My favorite was this one.  I even thought of making one for myself.
(But, what would I do with it? put it in my hair??)

American Girl "Elsa" Hats

Aren't these the cutest?

Do you remember when I made this one last year for my niece?

I actually got several order to make more... it was fun!

Then, when I saw THIS pattern and knew that my sweet nieces would LOVE it!!

It was so fun to make!

It was a super easy and fast pattern....
When I first made the hat and attached the snowflake, I put it directly over the braid - in the picture above- But, I moved it a little forward (as you can see at the beginning of the post).  I think I like it better forward

But, as you know... if you've read any of my previous blogs... I have trouble with gauge.

So, in my first attempt - It was just WAY to small, and I had to increase my hook to an "I" hook.
I am just very thankful that I have an AG doll to test out these patterns on.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Hats

Happy Birthday to my little nephew!
William turned One today!!!

I love to make hats!!!

When I saw crocheted TMNT hats on Pinterest... I thought it would be "perfect" for little William!!

Then, I realized.... how can I make just ONE TMNT hat... I have to make all four!

So, William's 2 sisters and his Grandpa (#1 TMNT fan) each got one!!

I must say..... the Hats were a Hit!!!

I didn't follow a particular pattern to make these hats.  I used a hat pattern from Repeat Crafter Me. Then just improvised the placement of the band of color. Then I just looked for a pattern for the eyes.  (There are lots of them on the internet!)

Ribet! Ribet!

These are old pics, but I forgot to post this... and it is just too cute not to post!!

This is sweet little Benjamin, with his froggy hat at Mimi made for him!
Up until this point he had REFUSED to put on any kind of hat!!  So, this picture was the beginning of a hat-wearing-era for him. This was last winter when this picture was taken.... love  that he is sporting his VERY FAVORITE t shirt: "I Love Grandma"

We haven't seen this hat for awhile - but, since it is going to be 100 degrees this weekend - maybe we won't see it for at least a few months!!!

Once again, thank you to Repeat Crafter Me for the frog hat pattern!!

Woof! Woof!!

This is my niece's daughter She had a birthday in May.
Yes, May!!!  I dutifully took these pictures, and had every intention of blogging about them.
Did I? NO!!
(I guess it's only 3 months late.... that's not as bad as I thought!)

I had so much fun making it.  And, she seems to really enjoy it.
(That's always a bonus!!)

Once again.... I have my "friend" at Repeat Crafter Me, to thank for the free pattern.

December Crochet-a-long!

This month's December-crochet-along-project was a slouchy hat. Wasn't too sure about this. Not really a hat person. But... I think that I turned out nicely:
What do you think? I tried to pick colors that I would ACTUALLY wear.
I live in southern California, and don't have too much of a need for a hat to keep warm... but this December has been..... COLD!!!
So, it was nice to have a hat.
I was really pleased with how easy it was to crochet it.
Can't wait for the slippers for January!!!
