Pink & Grey Afghan

Well, I finally finished it!!
 My niece is having her first baby - and we had a shower for her last week.
 Her colors were pink and grey
I thought it turned out very nicely
 I made my own labels.  I was so excited.
I found out how to print right on to fabric.
 I looked up a video on YouTube.
This was part of a month long Crochet-A-Long

WIP Wednesday

So, here are ALL the things I am working on right now:
The one I am "almost" done working on is
   this one
This is my SOY August Challenge. (Scraps of Yarn)
I have been working on it for 3 weeks
It is a mystery.
So, I don't even know what I am making....
But, based on what I see..... I think it is going to be a pillow.
What do you think?
I will be getting the final clue sometime today.
Joanita over at Creative Crochet Workshop is the brilliant mind behind this Challenge.
This is the first one that I have participated in, but I am loving it....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My next WIP is the Crochet Dollhouse Playbook,
 also from the mind of Joanita at Creative Crochet Workshop
I finally finished the first page, and just completed the 2nd page last night.
This is the dining room with a pocket between the table and chair
I still need to add the sun-rays on the yellow button, and add something to the bottom shelf
I am working on the 3rd page.
Directions for the 4th page are out, and the 5th page is due to come out today.
I am a little behind..... but, I am not losing heart... I am working diligently.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weekend I just started ANOTHER project:

This is a corner to corner crocheted baby blanket.
I haven't tried one of these before, but this should be fun.
My nephew is having a baby boy, and I thought this would something nice for the baby.

Sometimes I feel that I start sooooo many things, and do not finish them.  I am hoping that by blogging about it, it will help me to stay on task, and actually finish.

Christmas is coming, along with ALL 3 of my grandchildren's birthdays in the next few months.  Along with nieces and nephews..... YIKES!!!!  I better get some more projects started!!!!

Crochet-Along Blocks #9 #10 #11

Well, I am quite behind on my blocks for my baby afghan.
(block #17 was just released last week!)
I am participating in the 2015 Afghan Crochet-a-long
This is block #9
I love the colors, but it was a "bear" to do the middle.

Block#10
- It was much easier to do.  I enjoyed working up this one.

Block #11.
Very different than the other blocks.
After the flower in the middle, this one was a breeze - it was fun!

Here are all 3 of them.  I did not get a pic of all 11 blocks together - I am working on getting them all blocked and the same size.  I really wasn't thinking this whole project together when I started.  I am using different brands and weights of yarn, so the blocks are turning out slightly ( and not so slightly) different sizes.  I laid them all out side by side, and I am going to have to add a few rows to some of the blocks to get them closer to the same size.

I think it will work out.... We'll see...

Crochet-A-Long Block #7 & #8

Block #7

This one was pretty easy to make
It was 4 small granny squares
The "time-consuming" part was changing the yarn on each round

 Block#8

This one was fun to make, because it was different.
But, it really doesn't make me too happy when I see it.

Here are all 8 blocks together.
Sadly, they are not working up all the same size.
I need to figure out what size I want them to be, and either add or subtract some of the rows.
(I will leave that for another day!)

Crochet-A-Long Block #6

                                  I'm working on the crochet-a-long over at the Moogly blog

I am crocheting 1 block every other week.
I decided to use up my baby yarn stash, and make a baby afghan.

This Block was very interesting to make - the center green part was made as a "strip" and then gathered together on one side, to make a circle.
I had never done anything like that before.
Who knows......
Maybe for another grandbaby????

 Here is a sneak peak at block #7.
 This is just one of the 4 "mini-blocks" that go together to make block#7

2015 Crochet-Along

 So, I decided to take on another challenge
Tamara, over at Mooglyblog.com is doing another
Afghan Crochet-Along for 2015

We get a new pattern every other week.
I don't really want another afghan.... but for some reason....
I DO want to make one.
So, I have LOTS of baby yarn in my stash... so, I thought.....

Why not make a baby afghan.
Then, at the end of the year, I will have a very nice gift for
someone special!! (a new grand baby??)
 I had so much fun making this square.
I have never made anything quite like it, before.
I am thinking about making it again, with other yarn...
maybe into a pillow or something!
Here is the link to the page with all the deets!

I'm working on the second block... and it's just as much fun....
I hope it stays fun!!

April Crochet-Along

This month's crochet-along over at Habitual Homebody was a little cactus.
There were 3 to choose from - but, I only made 2, and they are pretty cute!!

I made them early in the month... but just "potted" them tonight, in time for the photo shoot!!

I think next time, I might make brighter flowers... and maybe not put eyes on them.

Knotted Headband

This is contribution to the March Crochet Along over at The Habitual Homebody. (formerly The Curious Pug):

These were the two that I'm most proud of.  This is my  daughter and I modeling the finished creation.

I was really excited at how easy they worked up.
Although.... I KNOW that I have a bigger head that the normal person - so, I tried to take that into consideration, and made my foundation chain much longer.... BIG MISTAKE.  It just slid right over my head.
So, on my second attempt, I followed the pattern, but used a bigger hook... that was the key.
They both fit our heads perfectly.  (my daughter inherited my "big head")

Here are some more pics:
I ended up making 3 total....I want to make more - I really liked them. But, we are starting to have summer already in southern California... so, it just made my head sweat!! YUK!!!

It's Cupcake Time!!!

 This was the February Crochet-along challenge over at The Curious Pug. She does a Crochet challenge every month. LOVE IT!  It is soooo much fun.  Sometimes it really takes me out of my comfort zone!
I have been wanting to make cupcakes for a long time now.  So, this challenge was just the thing to make me "Do It". They were fun to make!!

 The challenge this month gave us 3 choices.  I, of course, wanted to make the cupcakes, but also wanted to try my hand at the Danish Heart . I think all the choices were great.

Danish Heart

Valentines Day is coming!!!

Sweethearts Day!!!

Yeah! Right!!

Whatever!!!

Anyway.... this is what I made in honor of Valentines Day:

It was part of February's Crochet Along over at The Curious Pug.
Alysia gave us 3 to choose from.  I thought I would start with this one.... in time for Valentines Day.
I have it on display in my LR.

I am rather proud of it.  I love this challenge every month... it causes me to make some things that I would normally not do.

Now, I will be working on a few things for ME! and then I want to work on those lovely cupcakes that are the next thing I want to make for the February Challenge!!

January Crochet-a-long

This is my entry for the January Crochet-a-long over at The Curious Pug. I am having SO much fun crocheting and posting my creations.
This is my SECOND attempt at the slippers. (see below for the first ones!)
each look a little different.... but, I guess that gives them character!! (haha)

I had the yarn on hand... it was "fuzzy" and not really easy to work with! But, they keep my toes toasty!!

These are my first attempt... and in some ways I like them... I was trying to make them "beautiful" with the flowers on the top..... But, I think the flowers are a little TOO big!
I made my own buttons... by using the yarn... I was too lazy to get up and look for my buttons!!!

I made them too big... that's why I wasn't too happy with them. My daughter tried them on, and fell in love with them!!!

I think that if they fit me... I would have liked them more!!  (But the green ones above fit perfectly, and I love them!)
