April Crochet-Along

This month's crochet-along over at Habitual Homebody was a little cactus.
There were 3 to choose from - but, I only made 2, and they are pretty cute!!

I made them early in the month... but just "potted" them tonight, in time for the photo shoot!!

I think next time, I might make brighter flowers... and maybe not put eyes on them.

Quick Birthday Present!

So, my niece has 2 sweet little girls - and we were invited to her youngest first birthday party earlier this week. The party is tomorrow.  I wanted to make something - but what to make for a 1 year old that I can complete by the end of the week????
Slippers & a Crown!!

I wanted to make this crown but, it didn't have elastic, and I wasn't sure how big around her head was. So, I opted for this one. I altered the pattern a little - made it longer and didn't put beads on the crown for a 1 year old.

The slippers were made using this pattern, and I made them just like the pattern.  I hope they fit her. I did a little test on Benjamin, who is about 6 months older - and they were a little snug... so, I hope my "scientific" findings were correct!

The, of course she has a sister that is 2-1/2, and probably will not understand why little Rosie gets all the attention, so I made a crown for her, too

Then, my sweet baby daughter wanted a crown, too. So, I made the green one for her, and by the time I finished it.. she was asleep - but, I did a photo shoot anyway!!!

(The purple one is for the birthday girl's mommy!)

Of Grasshoppers & Guacamole!

So, my Saturday started out peaceful and restful.
In the morning, I went out to water my plants. It's been windy here - and I am VERY bad about remembering to water.  When I started to water the rose bushes, a grasshopper jumped out of the bushes and landed on my head!
This brought back to my memory a very horrifying experience when I was about 10 - we were downtown Oklahoma (I know, crazy!!) and we were walking in the city - and a grasshopper landed on my head.  I can still feel that sensation - whenever I see a grasshopper.
So, understand my "horror" when ANOTHER grasshopper landed on my head!!!
Well, it hopped around the patio, not able to find a way out.  My 2 sweet pups (picture on the side bar) thought I had brought home a toy for them - they chased it everywhere.
Somehow my 13 year old pup caught it...

She thought it was quite a find.  She would nibble at it, and then it would hop away.

She would catch it and nibble some more.

Finally, by the time I was done on the patio.... no more grasshopper to be found!
YUCK!!!

I ended my day in a much more pleasant way!
My daughter had been given LOTS of avocados (about 30) - and she called us after dinner and asked us to bring some chips and come over for some guacamole.
Much to our surprise - she had cut them all and made a HUGE bowl!!!

This is not the picture of the guacamole - we were much to excited to consume the guac - to slow down and take a picture of it.
Anyway - there was so much left over - we brought 2 containers home to put the freezer.
So excited!!!

Cutest blocks for the cutest boy!!

I commissioned by sweet friend, Susan, to make these a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. name blocks for my sweet little grandson.  She did such a good job.
After I saw the blocks she made for her grandson... I KNEW I had to have some for Benjamin!!
They are a perfect addition to the little shelf in his room.
Thank you, Susan... you did a wonderful job... and Mommy was pleased!
See how happy he is??

Sweet, Sweet, Wedding

I went to a very sweet wedding this morning.

It was for 2 very sweet people that I have recently come to know.

This was their "guest book"
We all put our fingerprint on the tree and then signed our name.
As you can see... it was a very intimate affair.

They are expecting their second child this summer.... Little Benjarmin was cute in these pictures - I had to include them!!

Pup Corn! A New Favorite!

So... are these not the cutest little dog treats!!!

I found them at the Dollar Tree... and I'm always looking for "cheap treats" for my pups!!!

(thought I would give you some perspective!)
(don't worry - my "hounds" did not eat the quarter!!)

Meet: Spencer

Pinterest Challenge

Well, I did it!!! My first project of the Challenge.... just 13 more to go.....
Meet: Spencer (I was watching Psych when I was putting him together!!)

I have been wanting to make this sweet little puppy for quite some time!
My "original" plan when I pinned it, was to make 2, one for each of my sweet nieces.
But, as I was making it.... I thought, with all this work - I will give it to my sweet, sweet grandson!
But, he is only 1-1/2 years old - and would probably just shred it!!
So, here he sits for his photo shoot!! (shout out to MY baby daughter on the tips!)
(He seems to want to stay in her room right now anyway!)
(He wanted to show you his tail!)
Here's the pattern

Doxie Easter Egg Hunt

I went to a "doxie meet up" today with my 2 precious doxies.
(they are the 2 in the front for the "doggie jail" :(

There were so many dachshunds there - probably close to 50 - by the end of the day!

I saw every kind of dachshund known to man.... there were dapples, and long hairs, black, red, and even 2 chocolate doxies.  (it is a special day when you see chocolate doxies!)

My pups begged and begged to get out

This one was the most unusual of the day! He was 1/2 Labrador and 1/2 dachshund.
He was about 48 pounds - and just one big lover!

Then on to the Egg Hunt!!
They had strewn eggs around the grass with dog treats in them
These are my dogs with my mother's 2 dachshunds.
It was a WONDERFUL, FUN, day!

Angel Eggs??

I saw this and thought "this is exactly what I need to do for my Easter Eggs!!"

Aren't they precious??? The crosses are made from carrots....

And, better than that... they were bacon, jalapeno deviled  angel eggs!!! YUM!!!

What Happened to March??

Ok... seriously!!!
What happened to March????

It has 31 days.... what happened to them?

So many goals this month... and so many did NOT get accomplished!!!

This is only the 3rd month of the year, and I was on a roll with reading my books... then... like, I said:
"What Happened To March?"

I completely ran out of time.
I got over half done with the book... so, rather than chuck the whole "One-book-a-month-goal"  - I am going to try and stay positive, and work on completing the book in April. Then maybe sometime during the year, I will be motivated to read TWO books in one month.  Even if I don't - I will at least have read 11 books for 2013.  Which is more than I have ever read in a year's time in my whole life.

It's a really good book - easy to read... short chapters.... has a good message....
I'm glad I picked this book - I really can't wait to finish it!!!
I'll let you know at the end of April!!
